This fast paced six-week class is designed to help handlers and dogs master the skills necessary to earn the AKC Canine Good Citizen award. Walking on a loose leash, coming when called, and other socialization and obedience concepts are addressed. This class is open to all dogs (including mixed breeds) who are at least 12 months old. It is recommended that dogs have previous exposure to classroom obedience training prior to enrolling. Students may participate in an AKC CGC Evaluation on the last night of class (test is optional, additional fee required). Dogs who successfully meet evaluation criteria will receive the distinctive Canine Good Citizen Award from the American Kennel Club. Vaccination records are required and must be presented the first night of class, and please BRING YOUR DOG to the first night. All exercises and tests are performed ON LEASH, so please bring your dog on a 6' leash (preferably leather). Dogs must wear a well fitting buckle or slip collar (including martingales) made of leather, fabric, or chain. Special training equipment such as harnesses, pinch collars, clickers, and head collars are not permitted.
