SMOTC offers this intense but fun class for adults interested in performing Therapy Dog work with their dogs (visiting hospitals, nursing homes, hospices, children's centers, etc). The class is open to all dogs (purebred or mixed breed) at least 1 year old who have successfully mastered the skills taught in the Pre-Novice (beginner) obedience class. Evaluations adhering to the Therapy Dog International standards are scheduled following the course to all interested parties. For Information on Therapy Dog International, go to www.tdi-dog.org Vaccination records are required and must be presented the first night of class, and please DO BRING YOUR DOG to the first night. You will also need a 6 foot leather leash and an appropriately sized RED buckle collar. Children over the age of 12 are invited to train (with head trainer permission) as long as a parent or guardian is registered for the class AND REMAINS IN ATTENDANCE THROUGHOUT THE CLASS PERIOD.
